You are not allowed to acquire data anonymously. When establishing the contract, the data provider and acquirer are required to know each other’s respective identities. This mutual recognition enables:

  • The provider to decide whether or not he/she wants to provide the data
  • The acquirer to better evaluate the value of the data, based on the provider’s profile

Can another organization acquire data for me?

Yes, on the condition that the provider grants the acquirer the right to grant, enabling that acquirer to transfer the data to a third-party.

In the license contract, the provider may require prior consent regarding the identity of the third-party organization using the data under a sub-licensing agreement. In that case, the end user of the data must be known by the provider.
